North of the river
is 'Globe Hall', part of The Peterborough
Environmental Project’s existing 450 m² building. Here the focus will be on
helping visitors to a better understanding of today’s macro-environmental issues.
For instance: human induced climate change; other problems of terrestrial
pollution; the gap between rich and poor; urbanisation; global population
growth; and the World’s natural resources. Sustainable transport is all about
managing our mobility with respect to our planet’s finite capacity and life
support systems.
The building has a laboratory especially for school visitors to explore aspects of renewable energy.
It will also have a demonstration
combined heat and power (CHP) plant.
In the vicinity are several outside
exhibits on power generation, old and new.
